NcStar AK/SKS Front Sight Tool

Hi all you Bloggers

First off I must thank all of the Bloggers who have taken the time to post a positive comment about my blog on my website……………………… Much appreciated.

Today’s Blog is all about an essential “Tool” that could save you much time and “cursing & swearing” for those of you who (like me!) love Russian Guns. My Motto is : “Give me an AK anyday!” Most AK’s and SKS’s come out more or less sighted in, but you occasionally get one that shoots to the left or the right because the front sight is too far over one way or the other. In this case what we used to do is lay the rifle onto it’s side and get hold of a punch and a hammer, and proceed to give the sight pin a “Belt” (In other words……. a tap on the punch with the hammer)

This usually did one of 2 things. – In the 1st instance, if the sight pin was not too tight or rusted in, the Damm pin would slide way too much over, in which case you had to turn the rifle over and proceed to tap it back the other way. (cursing just a little bit) After that it was………… Tap…… Shoot…….. Tap…….. Shoot…….. Tap…….. Shoot…… until you got your bullet holes in line with your sights. This could take just a wee while or a long time, dependent on how vigorous you were at “Tapping” and how easy the pin slid across. (and hopefully no one was shooting back at you at the time.)

In the 2nd instance, if the sight pin had been pressed in by a 100 ton press and rusted in there as well…………….. Guess What?????  You can be “Tapping” away all day and the (Bloody!) pin wont move………………………. (cursing just a little bit.) So we up the ante, we start tapping it a bit harder………………… Still no (Bloody!) movement. (Dont laugh, I’ve actually been there and done that) Well this time we really up the ante, we give it a “Belt” and the pin slides right the way across to the other side…………… (a bit more cursing & some swearing taking place now) Turn the rifle over and proceed to do the same again……………………. (air turning Blue now)………………. Do you get the picture here??? I could go on. So all in all this process could take some time, and we haven’t even got to the shooting stage yet.

This is where the Folks at NcStar come in with their innovative Front sight tool ~ W51. Boy!!! this takes the grief out of adjusting your front sight. All you need to do is slide it onto your AK or SKS front sight and wind the screw in, which pushes the sight pin across to where you want it…………………… No Fuss, No Mess, No Time Wasted………………. Job Done!!!!!!! How Easy is That????? In fact if you show your wife this Blog she will probably buy you one for your birthday.

Check them out on our website under “Accessories”…………………………. Happy Shooting!!!

Tufforce Weaver Mount Carry Handle

Hi to all you Bloggers

I have done a couple of blog’s on Gun “Wiget’s” = (small items) and would like to do one more on a Tufforce item that I like so much, that I have heaps in stock. What I am talking about is the Tufforce “Weaver Mount Carry Handle ~ G31″ ……………. Check out the picture below. I come from an era that the weapon of choice then, was the L1A1 SLR or the FN FAL Rifle, and guess what???????? they both had carry handles. We thought it was cool to “Carry” our favorite SLR or FN on and off the range by the carry handle while everyone else had to use there slings, etc. If by chance a shooter turned up without a carry handle on his SLR or FN, my first thought was………………….. WTF!!! – Your gun isn’t complete! Shame on you! Spare carry handles sold like hot cakes, especially if they were the early pattern wooden ones as they were the rarest.

Now-day’s, all sorts of rifles come with “Flat-Top” Weaver Rails, Full Length Weaver Rails, Breach Rails, etc. all of them a perfect platform to mount one of the Tufforce Carry Handles onto…………….. (did I mention that we have heaps in stock?) Even today as I stroll onto the Airsoft Playing Field with my M-4 (Airsoft) Carbine, it still gives me a pleasurable feeling to be able to cart it around by……………… You Guessed it! a Tufforce Carry Handle. This carry handle will not only fit any Weaver or Picatinny Rail, (It wont fit a 11mm Dovetail Rail) but it can be used on any rifle or shotgun, airsoft gun or paintball gun………. How’s that for versatility. It gives you that…………….. “I’ve been there and done that with my SLR, look”

If your rifle or shotgun has got a Short, Compact Scope or a Red Dot attached, this Tufforce Carry Handle will mount up just forward of them and is slim enough to not to block your vision through your sight in any way, and when not in use, it just folds down the side of your gun out of the way. If by chance you have a “Scout” rifle with a forward mounted scope, the Carry Handle will mount up at the rear of the scope. This is one “Wiget” that I just love on my rifles.

Happy Shooting and Gaming

NcStar AK47 / SKS Shell Deflector

Hi Bloggers

Like the last blog, this one too is about a small item that can make a big difference to your shooting pleasure for very little money……………………. I’m talking about the NcStar AK47 / SKS Spent Shell Deflector ~ W78.

Now I know what a lot of you are going to say…………………………….. “Why the Hell would you put a scope on a AK or an SKS?????????”  Well we just DO……..Alright!!! Because we Can. (“Nuff said) Now when you put your favorite scope onto your favorite AK or SKS, you have to know a few things. -

1) The” Russian Fantastic” (and Chinese) has a habit of flinging the spent cases slightly forwards and upwards, which is a great idea because your other shooting buddies that are lined up with you DON’T get Hot Brass down their neck. (This has a habit of severely “pissing them off” and making them dance around a bit)

2) These spent cases come out of the breech at a “fair rate of knot’s” = (Very Fast) and tend to go a long way-away. Mr. Kalashnikov was not a firm believer in recovering your brass for the purposes of reloading it seems. At the speed that they fly out, if they come into contact with any thing, ie: Your Scope, Your Mates Face, Your Wifes Face, etc, etc, it will do some damage. I have heard of shooters actually breaking their scopes with repeated dings from spent brass.

So now the Good Folks at NcStar have come up with a Spent Shell Deflector that is very easy to put on (and take off) It slips on to the rear sight by sliding the graduated adjustment up as far forward as it will go. Slide the Deflector onto the rear sight the same way as you insert an AK Mag. ie: forwards then backwards. Then slide the Sight adjustment back rearwards as far as it will go. This locks the Deflector in place.

All you need to do now is carefully bend the Deflector down to the desired height, (I usually make it parallel with the top of the breech, so that it looks nice)……………………………….. Job Done!!!!!!!!!!! No more Dinged or Broken Scopes. How’s that for a simple and inexpensive way to fix an otherwise expensive problem. Now for the really good news…………………………… We have them in stock.

Happy Shooting.

NcStar Laser Bore Sighters

Hi Bloggers

Today’s blog is all about a “nifty” piece of equipment that I recon every shooter that uses a scoped rifle should have, and it is small enough to slip in your pocket, or your bum bag, or your pouch. Let me set the scene for you. -

Have you ever been out hunting and have slipped over and your rifle has taken a bit of a “Thump”, or maybe you have banged it against a rock or a tree. The first thought that pops into your head is ……………….. “F**** I hope my scope is alright!!!!!” the 2nd thing that you do is check that your scope isn’t broken, ie – no bits of glass lying on the ground……………. Whew!!! big sigh of relief…….. every thing looks ok. On with the hunt, next thing we spot what we came to shoot,……… up with the rifle, ………… sight in on the crosshair’s …………… “BANG” …………… missed!………. Damm!!!!!, I should have checked the scope’s zero…….. Familiar story????? Well  what we have here is the very thing that will stop the cursing and “Bring Home the Bacon” (so to speak)

The Good Ol’ Boy’s at NcStar have had their thinking caps on and come up with a device that will not only get your scope back to zero quickly, but save you money in the process, by not having to fire off expensive rounds to sight in your scope again. (and in doing so scare off the “Bacon”) I’m talking about their Cartridge Laser Bore Sighters ~ W60……. A cartridge shaped pre-aligned laser that will slip into your chamber and fire a laser beam down the barrel so that when you put the red dot on something at say, 50 mtrs away, all you need to do is check that your crosshair’s coincide with the red dot………… “Bingo!!!!” you are back in business. (Make sure you take the Laser out of the chamber before you load a live round in) If your scope has been bumped out of alignment, slip the Cartridge Laser in the chamber and zero your scope in by adjusting the windage and elevation knob’s to align with the red dot…………………… easy-peasy, job done!!!

By using a Cartridge Laser you will save time and money in that you wont have to bang off unnecessary rounds to get your scope back on target again. They come in a variety of calibers, check these out –                                                                             .223 Rem, .30-06 Springfield, .25-06 Rem, .270 Win, .308 Win, .243 Win, 7mm-08 Rem, .300 Win Mag, .30-30 Win, 7mm Rem Mag, 7.62×39 AK/SKS, .50 BMG, 12g & 20g shotgun.

They are all made out of durable Aluminum and the .223 one is made out of Brass so they won’t scratch your chamber. The Red Laser is a 635-655nm or 5mw strength beam that runs off 3 x LR-44 Button Cell Batteries. We have them on our web site if you want to check out any additional, specific information……………. Happy Hunting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
